Green waterfall.oil on canvas,160x130cm.

The feature in my work is to make abstract space with memory about a
place I have visited before and emotional experience I have felt from
the place. My work starts from sensing emotions from visible landscape
likewise pathetic fallacy in literature, and record video, sound,
taking a picture of the landscape and write a diary.
I try to search my memory of the place where I felt emotions with
those documentary and then try to paint the atmosphere on a canvas.
When the landscape I have perceived is transferred to canvas, the
shapes and colours are reconstructed, also mixed with my current inner
state. Through this process, I create a place on a canvas which could
be seen easily nearby people, but could not feel familiar to people.
Before making a work, I look recorded pictures, diaries, videos and
listen to the sounds continuously, then I start to draw, recognising
them but the shape of the landscape I recorded are gradually distorted
with memory which fade down, the colours to express emotional mass
from the landscape is changed through the process that the emotional
mass is mixed gradually with current emotions I feel. Furthermore with
this distorted shapes and modified colours, I make emotional place on
canvas which include original perspective. I call this place
‘Emotion-interpreted space.’
Through Emotion-interpreted space, I would like to communicate with
viewers sharing what I feel. Then through this, I want to provide
short leave from daily life, which can cause psychological relaxation.
